Friday July 24th (from 11AM-4PM) and Saturday July 25th (from 11AM-3pm), we’re excited to be bringing the Hip-Hop And Comics conversation out from Comic-Con and into the larger San Diego/SoCal community, and holding a special all-ages, no cover or Comic-Con badge required event at Mixed Grounds Coffee in North Park!
We’ll be updating this post regularly as we confirm the full schedule for both days, but at the moment we’ll just say that it will feature artist and author signing slots, special merch drops, a pop-up exhibition of Hip-Hop-centric comic and animation art, zines/records/art/comics for sale, DJs, onstage creator Q&As, and even a couple surprise live performances…
Friday will feature guest appearances from Kwamé, Mega Ran, Wildchild (Lootpack), sets from DJ Norm Rocwell, DJ Sweetchuck, DJ Wally Fresh, and DJ Patrick A. Reed. Art, prints, zines, and other works will be available from Jeaux Janovsky, Kenny Keil, Deity, Xaviera Flores, Beee/Inna2nd, and others. And at 2pm, we’ll be launching the LBO Toys Rappin’ Max Robot action figure, with legendary artist Eric Orr on the premises; figures, sketches, and signatures will be available!
Saturday will begin at 11 with a very special “Saturday Morning” set from Kwamé, which will be followed by sets from DJ Syko, DJ Patrick A. Reed, and DJ Wally Fresh. Zach Norris, Eric Orr, Michael Norton Dando, and Kwamé and other artists/authors/zinemakers will be holding signings.
