We’re proud to announce that on Saturday, May 2nd, we’re bringing the Hip-Hop & Comics conversation to Portland, OR!
This special program is taking place as part of the Everything Is Festival: Portland and will bring together an incredible group of musical and visual creators to discuss Hip-Hop & comics’ parallel evolutions, mutual artistic influences, shared visual vocabulary, and more related topics.
Depth Of Field editor Patrick A. Reed will moderate, and panelists include:
–Christopher ‘Play’ Martin (of Kid ‘N Play)
–179 (graffiti/street artist, member of the Few & Far Collective)
–David Walker (author of Shaft’s Revenge, Dynamite’s Shaft comic, and DC’s upcoming Cyborg series)
-And more special guests TBA!
In addition to the panel discussion, this program will include a screening of Hip-Hop animation that ties into the topic, featuring an episode of the Kid ‘N Play saturday morning cartoon and a selection of classic music videos.
