Depth Of Field proudly presents “Hip-Hop And Comics: Cultures Combining” at New York Comic-Con, October 10th at 7:15pm
this program brings together renowned comic creators, musicians, commentators, and entertainers to discuss comics and Hip-Hop’s common ground and shared inspirations
On Friday, October 10th, from 7:15-8:00pm, Depth Of Field Magazine is proud to present Hip-Hop And Comics: Cultures Combining, a panel discussion at New York Comic-Con. This program looks at how comic books and Hip-Hop have grown from modest origins to achieve global impact, and how they have inspired and influenced each other in the process – not just within rap music and comic books, but also through skate/street fashion, graffiti, animation, breakdancing, kung fu films, and other related expressive forms.
Patrick Reed (editor of Depth Of Field Magazine) will moderate, and panelists include:
–Pete Rock (pioneering producer and DJ, half of legendary Hip-Hop duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth)
–Large Professor (celebrated producer, MC, and DJ)
–David Brothers (editor and content manager for Image Comics, media journalist, co-founder of 4thletter.net)
–Eric Orr (graffiti and fine artist, graphic designer, creator of Rappin’ Max Robot, the first Hip-Hop comic book)
–Adam Wallenta (co-creator of the Public Enemy comic book, acclaimed MC)
–Ronald Wimberly (graphic artist and designer, comic writer/artist, creator of DC/Vertigo’s Prince Of Cats)
–Carolina Cooney (journalist, commentator, history of comics instructor at Academy Of Art University SF)
-and special surprise guests!
The panel runs one hour, and will be held in Room 1A14 of the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.
